What Does It Takes to Innovate?
With the evolution of human beings also comes evolution in companies, the market, and the entire world. Evolution is natural, it happens slowly but steadily; it happens to everyone, and those who don’t evolve suffer, or die. But revolution is not the same. Revolution comes when there is a desperate need for it, when things have been stagnant for too long; and when it comes, it shakes things roughly, and quickly. It starts out organized but then causes chaos for years; before settling down again with a new world order.
What the world is going through now is a revolution, an information boom, a digital wave that is hitting everything in its way. Even the universal language has changed. The world now speaks customer experience, it speaks digitization, disruptive innovation and lots of other terms that makes concepts like “change management” look simple in comparison.
If you are willing to embrace the chaotic nature of a revolution, then you are ready for innovation. To innovate is to let go of familiar and embedded patterns of thoughts, assumptions, and beliefs; to let go of “control.” It is about embracing uncertainty, and imagining future, unknown possibilities.
